Hello, everyone!  Today we are sharing Kelly's layout on the blog today.

There's so many little details on Kelly's layout, we don't know where to start!   Kelly has altered her background paper just by using stencils, paint or ink.  She has toned down the brighter colours by using a white paint with her stencil.  It wouldn't be a Kelly layout without the glitter, Stickles, and Nuvo Enamel to make all her little dots and speckles of shine.  There's some stamping in there with a date stamp, machine stitching (she's even stitching through her dyed ribbon!).  Her little stamped Gorjuss girl is of course, wearing turquoise!  The cute camera is an older die, from My Favourite Things, and the word 'bliss' is a Heidi Swapp die.
Fantastic layout and great photo, Kelly!

Have a great day and thanks for stopping by,

We have our newest Design Team member on the blog today.  Some of you may have met her at the store already, Danielle.

Danielle has created a nice focal point for her photos with a larger mat using patterned paper and cardstock.  She has added in embellishments, her title and her coloured Gorjuss girl stamped image.  The Gorjuss girl was coloured with IZINK inks.  These are acrylic-based pigment inks that come in a glass bottle with a rubber dropper tip.  These inks have properties of both pigment ink and paint, are opaque, permanent, and can be diluted with water or alcohol.  She has also added in some Dylusions Bubblegum Pink paint to her background paper.
We love the border Danielle has created at the bottom of her page with some of her chipboard elements and tissue paper that she has pleated.  Well done on your first Urban Design Team layout, Danielle.  Looking forward to seeing more!

We have been busy this week at the store!  We have just received....

KELLY'S KORNER - Aqualicious

Summer greetings from the Korner
 of your favourite scrapbook store!

It's possible yours truly may be a 'One-Trick-Pony'. In that I'm constantly attracted to products and paper in one glorious colour. The view from here is quite intoxicating, it's my 'Happy Place' !

Does this happen to you?  Do you go gah-gah for one colour in particular?  I guess it's no secret what my favourite colour is, LOL. I simply have more fun working with aqua stuff. Since I buy a lot,  a fair amount, most of, everything in my colour, it likely turns up in almost every project I design.

It's like my very own trade mark and many lovely friends tend to spoil me when they find little aqua goodies too. How grande is that?

I can't imagine a single colour
that does not go with Aqua.

Aqua and pink! Yes please.

Aqua and orange, like me, is very exotic, ha!

I'm beginning to think my colour fetish is not that unique.  One of my favourite combo's, aqua and pink, is turning up everywhere this season.  Check out this new collection from My Minds Eye called Sugar Plum.  I can't wait to get my scrappy little hands into a project.  I don't exactly have a plan but I know whatever turns out will be totally me, soft and a little aqualicious.

What's your favourite color to work with?

Hey?! Have you heard the news?  I'm having another class!

I'd love to see you there. Thanks so kindly for coming by!
Cheers from Kelly, for The Urban Scrapbook.

Good Morning everyone!  Today we have Elaine's Design Team layout on the blog today:

Elaine's Colour Run photos are perfect for this BoBunny collection.  She has created unity with her photos by matting them on one large triple mat.  The cluster of tissue flowers placed on the edge of her mat, grounds the grouping of photos. Using busy paper can be a bit overwhelming on a layout, but separating the different patterns with a plainer patterned paper or a thin piece of plain cardstock in-between can make a big difference. The black cardstock used here does just that and also draws your eye to the black mat around her photos.
How cute is her "Gorjuss" stamped girl?  Elaine coloured her to look like she's been in a colour run too!  Awesome layout, Elaine!

Thanks for stopping by, have a great day!

Hello there!  We have Krista's Design Team layout on the blog today:

Using the BoBunny Believe Faith Cloud paper as her background, inspired Krista to add in more die cut clouds.  The stitched clouds are Memory Box 30063 and the flat bottom outline ones are... a mystery at the moment!  We will update this as soon as we find out from Krista! Her Gorjuss Girl stamped image is peaking out from behind her matted photo, along with pieces from the chipboard package. Love this layout, Krista!

Good morning everyone!  It's a beautiful sunny day here today, and we thought it fitting that we have Karen's layout on the blog today:

Karen enhanced the sun rays on her BoBunny paper by machine sewing the seam binding ribbon (included in our kits) down each ray.  She has also adhered a small chipboard heart on most of the rays and sewn through those.  Love what she has done with the BoBunny tissue paper! Pleating a strip of it and creating her own embellishment across her page and at the base of her sun ray adds dimension to her layout.  Her machine stitching in various areas really stands out too.  Beautiful layout, Karen!

We have received all the new collections from My Mind's Eye!

These new releases from My Mind's Eye are gorgeous!  Hope you stop by and check them out!

KELLY'S KORNER - Coasting Through Summer

Hello from the Korner !
 I've really, really missed you.

Wow, already August! Can you even believe it?  I hope your summer has been as fantastic as mine.  In no specific order, my summer so far, has included London, France, hosting my best friend, fairy gardens, family fun, the Rocky Mountains, shovelling rock, home decorating and my very first class at Urban! Whew! Check it out.........

But enough of my Tom Foolery. I couldn't wait to get back to work, all of you and my sweet, sweet life of crafting and scrapping.  One thing is sure, I will always have time for  colouring no matter what life throws my way. Have you hopped on this crazy fantastic colouring trend yet?

When Urban received a collection of Spellbinders stamps designed by Tammy Tutterow , I quickly snapped up a few I couldn't resist. But instead of making the usual greeting card, I made a collection of large coasters that I can easily mail to friends.

Here's the low-down on my DIY.  After sanding a set of four coasters I got at the dollar store, I traced the coasters onto various patterned papers and cut that out with scissors.

Now the fun part.  Stamp, colour and paint!

I used my Zig Clean Color Real Brush Pens to colour the artwork.  There's 60 gorgeous colours.

Urban sells them either individually, so you can pick the ones you love or we can order you the complete collection.

Using my fingertips and various bottle tops, I also added some awesomeness with Finnabar's Metallique Acrylic paints. What's cool about these is, they're transparent too. Aren't the colours delicious? With colours like 'Pure Sunshine', they're right up my alley!

I loved colouring and painting the same stamp with multiple looks, no two are alike!

Wouldn't they be fun at a Bridal Shower or unique hostess gift?  Maybe a nice gift for a favourite teacher?  If you're mailing them to friends like I did, you can write your message on the back. Presto! A greeting coaster for friends like me who enjoy a glass of wine now and again, LOL.

Let me know if you make some of your own. We always love to see your projects. Pop into The Urban Scrapbook for a close up look at my DIY, sorry wine is not included, ha!

I hope your day is Happy & Joyful,
Cheers from Kelly, at the Korner

Hi there!  We have Laurie's August layout on the blog today:

Laurie took inspiration from those bright colours in BoBunny's "Believe"collection and created this tropical layout.  Those flowers are amazing, aren't they?  She stamped on the pattered paper with Heartfelt's Tropical Hibiscus Stamp Set (HCPC-3736) and die cut them out with the coordinating dies (HCD1-796), both from the "Under the Sea collection".  She did an awesome job, colouring in her Gorjuss girl stamps too!
Fantastic layout, Laurie!

Hello everyone! Looks like we've got a good start to the long weekend, it's sunny and hot!  For those who feel like they need to escape the heat, and are spending time in their craft room, we have some card inspiration created by Jan for you today.

This card was created with the Poppystamp's Leafy Frame die(POP1325) and Sizzix's Tim Holtz Script Celebration Words dies(660223).  The paper used was from Blue Fern Studios and flowers from Petaloo and Prima.

Memorybox Blooming Flower Frame (MBX99447) and Tim Holtz Celebration Script Words die set was used on this card.  The flowers were made from Sizzix's Tim Holtz Tattered Flower Garland (657824). The paper is from Blue Fern Studios.
A Stampers Anonymous Tim Holtz stamp called Evolution was used here, along with Pumice Stone Embossing Powder.  Gansai Watercolours were used on the background.  A strip of Tim Holtz Woodgrain paper was inked and added to the bottom with metal gears and the Handwritten Journey Thinlits die-cut word "moments"(660217).

Not only can the Sizzix Tim Holtz Calendar Script thinlits dies (661179) by used for your calendars, but they can make great backgrounds for your cards, layouts, or art journals.  These months were die-cut from the same paper used on the card and then adhered to the card front. If you want to highlight a certain month, just cut it out in a contrasting colour.  They almost look like they were put on with texture paste or embossed.  The die-cut Stitched Oval is from Tim Holtz (661188) and the Detailed Butterfly die (Sizzix 661182) is cut from vellum, with the center embossed with Lindy's Stamp Gang embossing powder.  The Flower is from Blue Fern Studios.

This beautiful paper collection "Courtship Lane" is from Blue Fern Studios.  The Doily is Sizzix's Tim Holtz Doily#2 Thinlits Die(661498) and it was painted with Prima's Art Alchemy Metallique and Opal Magic paints.  It was then sprayed with Ranger's Wendy Vecchi Mica Spray in Cornflower Blue to give it some blue shimmer.  The little house is die-cut from Poppystamps Vincent House die (1509), the large flower is from Petaloo, the smaller ones are die-cut from Tim Holtz Tattered flower Garland die (657824).

You can always come and visit us at the store this weekend, we'll have the air-conditioning on!  There's also another great reason for a visit, we have just received the new Tim Holtz Crazy Dog stamps!

That's not all, new in the store….
